Hi, I’m Ali.

I started my blog in the spring of 2002, intending for it to be an online diary. I think my first post says something to the effect of, “I probably will never remember to post to this thing.” I’ve always been the type of person to get very excited about a shiny new thing, but once some of the shininess wears off I tend to lose interest. Fortunately, I periodically did remember to post and the blog survived.

This blog is the story of a girl transitioning from the naivete of her early twenties into a slightly more sophisticated – though still somewhat green – adult. More recently, it’s become a place where I can share my creative endeavors.

Admittedly, I don’t have a lot of spare time with a toddler, a full-time job, and a husband who works two jobs; but in the time that I can scrape together I really enjoy creative projects.  I like to try any craft that catches my eye: sewing, embroidery, cross stitch, stamping, paper crafts, vinyl crafts… the list goes on and on!  Keep me away from Hobby Lobby.  Don’t let me into Michael’s.  And don’t come with me to Jo-Ann’s unless you’re ready to invest a few hours of time.

I’m not an expert.  My projects are never practically perfect in every way.  I do have a whole craft room of my own, but it’s not a highly decorated Pinterest-worthy retreat, resplendent with glittering craft supplies in myriad glass vessels.  It’s the smallest bedroom in our modest home that’s filled with recycled furniture and things that need to be stored in the attic.  I’m an average mom crafting, learning, and writing about it because I believe that creativity is for everyone and crafting can be accessible to anyone who wants to give it a shot!

So, welcome to my little spot on the web! It’s not always brilliantly introspective prose (in fact, it’s frequently not), but my posts are generally randomly interesting (or interestingly random) and every once in a while I think I post a rather captivating nugget. In the end, my blog is really just for me – I very much enjoy the ability to click back to a random day or year and see what was going on in my life at that time. I don’t pretend that I have anything fascinating or profound to share with the world, but hey, neither does reality TV and lots of folks find that interesting. ;)

Thanks for reading!
